Volunteer at the Down the River Clean Up on the Clackamas! Come float and fill your boat at the 13th Annual Down the River Clean Up on Sunday, September 13th, 2015. For the first time in 12 years, the event will include Milo McIver State Park as an official boat launch for floaters joining the effort to keep the Clackamas River clean – extending this year’s trash sweep by 10 miles to include a 20+ mile stretch of the Clackamas River from Estacada to the confluence with the Willamette River in Oregon City. Planning begins for new whitewater surf park on lower Clackamas River...

We Love Clean Rivers (WLCR) recently was awarded a grant from Clackamas County Tourism and Cultural Affairs to develop a plan for a whitewater surf park on the lower Clackamas River.  Such a park will make the lower Clackamas River a destination spot for whitewater kayakers, stand-up paddlers (SUP), surfers, river boarders, and canoeists. “A whitewater surf park on the lower Clackamas River will offer great tourism benefits to the local area,” says Sam Drevo, President of WLCR. “Whitewater parks across the country have created booms in tourism and economic development by promoting recreation, training, commerce, improved safety, and fish habitat,” explained Mr. Drevo.
